Automated Horse Exerciser (Hot Walker)

StoneGate Stables (SGS) built a horse exerciser (hot walker) in 2008. We believe that horses require exercise to be happy and healthy and therefore when the weather is unsuitable or ground slippery from excessive rain, our horses still get the exercise they need without the risk of injury. Our Hot Walker is also a health aid in the rehabilitation of injured horses that can't be ridden, but still need an exercise program to recover.

The SGS HotWalker is a freeform walker built by Kraft, in Germany, in which the horses are not tethered to the machine but rather walk/trot/canter between gates. This provides a safer, more natural movement for the horse and allows much more freedom during the exercise period. The footing is level and has a 6" bluestone base with an "egg crate" foundation that keeps 6" of rubber footing evenly distributed to ensure safe, sure footing for the horses during exercise.

The building is 70' in diameter providing a circle with a radius well beyond that which is recommended to prevent unnecessary stress on the horse's joints which is common with frequent longe lining. Up to six (6) can exercise at the same time and can follow a computer-controller program timed events of walk, trot, canter at different speeds in either direction.
